An artist from Czechoslovakia is celebrating 20 years of living in Bournemouth.
Miroslav Lucan, who has an art studio in Bournemouth Town Centre, has created an exhibition called ‘Stories of the Sea’.
It aims to celebrate things that are often overlooked such as local history, local architecture and the pure nature of Bournemouth.
He celebrates art in all sectors through his exhibitions and events held in the his studio on The Avenue, with music and poetry nights.
The ‘half-artist half-musician’, always likes to be involved in the arts where he can and wants to use his space to celebrate culture through all types of art.
Mr Lucan said: “I'm just trying to bring people together, if I can give them a space and platform to perform I should.”
This exhibition will celebrate the 20 years Mr Lucan has spent here in Bournemouth through art all with the theme of the sea.
Mr Lucan said: “For 20 years I have lived in Bournemouth, this exhibition shows my love for the town.”
The space at the studio is for many different artists like Gabriel Moreno, a french musician.
Mr Moreno said: “I love what Lucan is doing and it’s a great opportunity for me, it’s great to be able to celebrate my passion with others who feel the same.”
Mr Moreno is performing at the venue on February the 5th where he will be singing his poetry for anyone who wants to hear it.
Lucan said: “I want to celebrate sunsets, sunrises and all this beauty we have around Bournemouth.”
Lucan first came to Bournemouth 20 years ago when he was travelling around the UK with a choir, he fell in love with Bournemouth and decided he wasn’t going to go home.
Lucan said: “I just love this place, I want to celebrate Bournemouth through my art and other's art.”
Lucan’s future aspirations are to help educate future generations and use his passion for art to inspire others.
Lucan said: “Passing on skills or advice to future generations means a great deal to me.”
Lucan also said: “I want to leave a legacy of connecting people, celebrating history and cultures.”
Lucan’s art expedition is open to the public Monday to Friday, from ten in the morning until five at night, anyone is welcome to help celebrate his love of Bournemouth.
